"We feel it is a natural progression for Joe to take over as LOM, and everyone at the station is delighted that he has accepted the role.

Commenting on his new role, Joe said: “It’s a privilege to take on the role of Lifeboat Operations Manager here at Lough Swilly. This station has a proud tradition of service, built on the unwavering dedication of our volunteer crew and the quiet strength of their families.

"Every launch, every training session, every call-out is a testament to their commitment - not just to the RNLI, but to the safety and well-being of our community. I’m especially grateful to my wife, Bridgita, who also serves as a crew member.

"Together, we understand the level of sacrifice and support that’s required at home to keep this station operational. It’s a shared commitment that runs through many families here, and it’s what makes this lifeboat station such a special place. I’m honoured to support our volunteers as we continue to uphold the highest standards of readiness and lifesaving service.”
