Donegal TD Charles Ward, who lives in Drumkeen, raised the issue of dangers of the approach to the village on the N13
Concerns about the dangers of the N13 in Drumkeen have been raised in the Dáil.
Donegal TD Charles Ward, who lives in the village, raised the issue of dangers of the approach to it on the main road between Letterkenny and Stranorlar.
The 100% Redress TD was speaking during a private members motion on the cost of motoring.
He said there have been numerous accidents on a two-kilometre stretch coming into the village, “and unfortunately people have lost their lives”.

“That's down to the fact that the roads need to be upgraded, there needs to be safety measures put in place.”
He also called on the government to stop price hikes in petrol and diesel, to end the penalty imposed on people who cannot afford to pay motor tax in one single payment, and to stop the proposed toll increases planned for January 2026.
“It is an extremely expensive time to be a motorist, especially in rural areas like Donegal where we are forced to drive due to a lack of public transport options. My constituents are bearing the brunt of motor costs and it is completely unfair, especially in this cost of living crisis.”
He claimed that many rural roads are not fit for purpose, and in desperate need of upgrading and also criticised the positioning of a bus stop in the middle of a dangerous junction in Drumkeen.
“It's a disadvantage to the town of Drumkeen, and it's disadvantage to the Finn Valley. In this day and age, it's a ridiculous situation, but as per usual, Donegal is the forgotten county.”
