Animals in Need volunteers ramp it up to save cat in south Donegal

Thie cat stuck on top of the dilapidated building in Ballintra

Volunteers in Ballintra were on the verge of calling in a cherry picker to save a cat stuck on a dilapidated building this week.

However, on close inspection, it would’ve been unsafe, so a plan was hatched to construct a ramp to save the cat.

“Yesterday, when reports started coming in of a cat stuck on the roof of a derelict building in Ballintra, we went to try and help, as had locals before us,” Animals in Need Donegal posted on Thursday.

“But due to the derelict state of the building and access problems, the solution wasn't a fast or clear-cut. We have secured access for the cat today, with an on-site sturdy ramp he can access at any time, so he is 100% not stuck anymore.

“The first thought was to get a cherry picker, but at closer inspection, we realised it would have no access due to nearby electric wires. Big thank you to the neighbours who allowed access and our volunteer team, led by William, who was the brain behind the rescue. Our volunteers really do go above and beyond.”
