Remembering with affection and esteem the former parish priest, Very Rev Fr Seamus Meehan, PE, whose Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated at 7pm tomorrow, Tuesday, February 17, at St Crona’s Church, Dungloe.

Fr Meehan was a retired priest of the Diocese of Raphoe who previously served as the Parish Priest of Templecrone and lived on Main Street in Dungloe. He would surely be proud that his former curate, Bishop Niall Coll, will preside at the Mass - a fitting tribute to a priest who served with such dedication, kindness, and faith.

His ministerial journey began in Kilmacrenan in 1962, followed by a series of appointments that took him through the heart of Donegal, including assignments in Gaoth Dobhair a year later; Edeninfagh, Glenties in 1965; Glenfin in 1967, and Tory Island in 1969.

After further service in Carrigart in 1970, Stranorlar in 1982, and Annagry three years later, Fr Meehan settled into his final post in Dungloe in 1991. He served the Dungloe community for 21 years until his retirement in 2012, marking exactly 50 years since he first answered the call to his first parish. In June 2022, he celebrated the 60th anniversary of his ordination.
