A lady required medical attention after being attacked by a dog in Donegal.

The incident occurred at around midday on Friday, April 10, in  Lurgabrack, Hornhead, Dunfanaghy. The dog has been described as medium-sized and light-coloured. No further details are available as of yet.

“We appeal to anyone who may be aware of a dog on the loose matching that description in the area to alert Gardaí or the dog warden immediately,” Garda Grainne Doherty said. “If anyone travelled in that area with a dash-cam on that date around Midday, we ask them to make the footage available to us.

“The lady in question required medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries. We are anxious to locate the dog in question to avoid any further incidents. Any relevant information should be passed on to Gardaí in Ballyshannon on 071-9858530.

“In light of this incident and also because it is lambing season, we wish to once again remind dog owners that their pet must be kept under control at all times.

“With dog ownership comes responsibility. Secure your dog, have it microchipped and registered with your vet. Please keep your family pet under effective control. By being a responsible dog owner, you can help prevent attacks on people, on sheep and on their lambs.”
