The funeral procession of Private Seán Rooney, who was killed while on active service in Lebanon, is expected to arrive in Newtowncunningham, on Thursday, between 1pm and 2pm .
The 23-year-old who was killed while on active service in Lebanon, last week, is to be buried with full military honours this Thursday.
The car park at the All Saints Catholic Church will be closed to the general public to give priority to the family, army personnel and dignitaries.
The funeral cortége will proceed along the road, on foot, from Kernan's towards the chapel. Traffic will stop for a short time. A 21-gun salute will take place in the field across from the graveyard.
Gardaí said there will be some traffic disruption and there will be noise from the guns. Gardaí will be present to assist proceedings.
People are asked to allow for extra time to their journeys this Thursday.
