With darkness falling across Donegal, the gritting team have been out in force in an effort to make the main routes through the county as safe as possible.
However, with any thaw that occurred during the day now refreezing, black ice is forming, and even the main, gritted roads could still be slippery.
Back roads around the county are extremely dangerous and conditions are deteriorating.
Met Eireann has issued a number of weather warning for snow, ice and low temperatures in the county.
People are advised to avoid unnecessary journeys and to assume that no road is ice free.
