Rhys Irwin celebrates his win at Thruxton
Rhys Irwin claimed another victory as he travelled to Thruxton for Round Six of the British Superbikes this weekend.
With lovely sunny weather and blue skies, the Kilmacrennan native finished Friday's free practice in 4th overall.
Saturday morning qualifying saw Rhys 0.3 secs faster than his closest rival, putting his old Suzuki on pole for the races.
Race 1 saw Irwin dominate the 12-lap sprint race, leading from lap 3, taking the chequered flag for his second win of the season. Race 2, with Rhys again on Pole, he took the lead early but his race ended prematurely following a horrific highside and he was lucky to escape serious injury.

“Thruxton is one of the hardest race tracks of the championship and I felt very strong," Irwin said.
"I haven't made a mistake all season but a small one today cost me another win. I'm disappointed but ready for Cadwell Park in two weeks' time.”
Rhys can be seen live in action on TNT 4.
