Caomhan Canny celebrates winning in the Isle Of Man

Caomhan Canny took his first win on the Manx Grand Prix in the Isle of Man on Monday.

The Gleneely man took the win on the 37-mile Mountain Course by half a second from Chris Cook.

A year after making his debut on the circuit, the 30-year-old put in a blistering final lap by to take the win in dramatic fashion, crossing the line just ahead of Scotsman Cook.

Cook had led for the majority of the four-lap race before a final charge by Canny saw him overtaken in the final sector.

Canny told Manx Radio Motorsport there were ‘no words’ to describe his feelings after his debut win on the Mountain Course.

"I'd like to thank every single person who's believed in me," he said.

"I just don't know how it happened."

It was a remarkable win for Canny, given that just seven weeks ago he crashed out in the Tandragee 100 and suffered multiple broken bones, with his place at the starting line for Monday's event in doubt after the crash.
