National: Man due in court over fatal Christmas Eve assault at Dublin restaurant

A man is due to appear in court this morning, Saturday, in relation to a fatal assault at a Dublin restaurant on Christmas Eve.

The man is due to appear before a special sitting of the Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30am.

Tristan Sherry, 26, died after he was assaulted and stabbed during the incident at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown.

A man in his 40s was also injured when he received gunshot wounds in the incident.

The incident unfolded inside the restaurant filled with customers, including families out for Christmas Eve celebrations.

"Gardai have charged the arrested man in relation to the investigation of the fatal assault that occurred at a premises on the Main Street in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 at approximately 8pm on Sunday, 24th December 2023," a garda spokesperson said. 

"The man is due to appear before a Special sitting of the Criminal Courts of Justice, this morning Saturday 30th December, 2023 at 10.30a.m. Investigations ongoing."
