Gardaí have issued a countrywide statement on farm safety after stopping a tractor being driven by a 14-year-old.
Gardaí in Westmeath came upon this tractor which was also carrying a 13-year-old passenger.
It was then revealed that the tractor was uninsured and hadn’t been taxed in under 11 years.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has said: "You must be 16 years of age or above and licensed to drive a tractor."
Proceedings are set to follow for both the teenager driving and their father.
The spokesperson added: "As we approach silage season and children and young people’s summer holidays from school, tractor safety on and off the farm is paramount."
