Sean McGoldrick gets title shot in Cardiff

Sean McGoldrick is ready to return to the ring for a title tilt.

Sean McGoldrick goes back into title territory next month.

The Welsh bantamweight, who has strong Donegal links, faces Scott Allan for the vacant British and Commonwealth bantamweight title.

McGoldrick and Allan square off at the Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff on February 10 on a card announced by Thirty6 Sport in association with Lee Eaton.

McGoldrick's father Liam is a native of Ballyshannon and they are regular visitors to the county.

In October, McGoldrick – the 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist - defeated Alexander Taylor 58-56 on points.

In 2019, McGoldrick lost on a unanimous decision to Thomas Essomba for the WBA Continental bantamweight title, but hit back with wins over Stefan Slavchev in Cardiff in 2020 and Stephen Jackson at York Hall in 2021.

As a pro, McGoldrick boasts a 12-1, 3KOs record, while Allan is 11-6-1, and he goes in search of a title previously held by Belfast puncher Ryan Burnett in 2015 and 2016 before he went on to become unified world bantamweight champion.
