Fintan Dewhirst helped the Ireland Under-20 4x400m relay team hit a new Irish record.

On Wednesday night, the Tir Chonaill AC man ran with the relay side at the Track and Field Live Meet 7 in the National Indoor Arena.

They were just 0.33 seconds off claiming a qualifying standard for the European Junior Championships.

Meanwhile, Nakita Burke of Letterkenny AC finished 14th in Thursday night’s Armagh International Road Race.

In the women’s 3k, Burke finished in 9:28 and was the leading Irish finisher.
