Sixth-place finish for Mark English at Millrose Games

The Finn Valley AC man was running at the world famous Millrose Games, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet in New York

Mark English finished sixth in the men’s 800m at the Millrose Games in New York on Saturday night.

The Finn Valley AC man crossed the finish line in 1:48.76.

In front of 5,000 at The Armory, in the 115th edition of the world famous Millrose Games, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet. 

English, recruited by Asics on a sponsorship deal this week, was among the leading contenders for large portion of the race.

Kenya’s Noah Kibet, the World Indoor silver medallist, won in a world lead time of 1:44.98.

Isaiah Harris of the US was second in 1:45.64 while Olympic bronze medallist Clayton Murphy, also from the US, finished third in 1:46.83.

Four-time European medallist English is gearing up for the 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships, which will be held from March 2-5 at the Ataköy Arena in Istanbul.

Previously this season, English went 1:47.62 in Sweden and 1:46.57 in Boston.

English recently signed up with PACE Sports Management, the company headed up by Milford man and former Finn Valley athlete Ricky Simms.
