The Donegal duo were part of the Irish Under-20 team at a Dynamic New Athletics meeting in Madrid

Lucy McGlynn and Hannah Murray compete for Ireland in Spain

Hannah Murray and Lucy McGlynn in Madrid on Wednesday.

Donegal athletes Lucy McGlynn and Hannah Murray gained valuable international experience in Madrid on Wednesday.

Tir Chonaill AC's McGlynn and Finn Valley AC woman Murray competed in relays as part of the Ireland team for the 2023 Dynamic New Athletics U20 meet.

In the mixed 2x2x200m, McGlynn and David Bosch from Dundrum South Dublin finished in third spot.

McGlynn and Bosch concluded in 1:44.01 at the Gallur Municipal Sports Centre.

At the weekend, McGlynn was fourth in the 200m and fifth in the 60m hurdles at the National Senior Indoor Championships.

Great Britain's Samael Lunt and Sophie Wilson won in 1:43.29 with Ondrej Loupal and Lurdes Gloria Manuel second in 1:43.30.

In the mixed 4x400m, Murray helped the Irish team to a second-place finish.
Murray ran the third leg with Joe Doody from Cabinteely and Bray's Niamh Murray on the opening two leg. South Galway's David Mannion took the baton from Hannah Murray and the Irish quartet finished in 3:28.25.

GB's Thomas Hockley, Ashely Nemits, Etty Sisson and Onyeka Okoh won in 3:26.19 with the Irish team beating the Spanish foursome Natalia Rojas, Miquel Anquel Esteller, Laia Zurita and David Garcia (3:30.69) to second.

Murray was the silver medallist in the Irish junior 400m final and also helped Finn Valley AC to the National Indoor League final.

Wednesday's DNA meet, which featured more than 100 athletes from Ireland, Czech Republic, France, Great Britain, Portugal and Spain.

The Irish team concluded the event in fifth spot.

The DNA meet was a prelude to the World Athletics World Indoor Tour gold level meet, which takes place at the same venue on Wednesday night. Finn Valley AC's Mark English will be in action in a top-class 800m race.
