Jason Quigley is being eyed up to headline an open air show in Dublin this summer.

The Donegal man returned to the ring after a 16-month lay-off on Saturday when beating tough Hungarian Gabor Gorvics.

Quigley claimed a 100-90 points win in front of a big crowd at the National Stadium.

Saturday’s show was the first joint venture between Sheer Sports Management - who have managed Quigley all through his pro career - and Elite Sports Promotions.

Elite Sports chief Barry Walsh wants this to be the start of a regular series of shows in Ireland and he revealed plans for a show in July at a ten-acre site in Lucan with a capacity for 5,500 people.

“We have a great pool of lads and we have big ambitions,” Walsh said. “It’s about getting the right next step. Jason deserves a world title. He has given his life to that ring.”

Walsh confirmed that he wants Quigley, who fought for the WBO world middleweight title in 2021, to top the bill.

Robert Diaz, the famed former Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker, has linked up with the Elite Sheer partnership.

Diaz has had a big influence on Quigley’s career and the two became close friends.

With Diaz cutting his ties with Golden Boy in January, Elite Sheer will now benefit from his expertise and contacts.

“It is a huge honour for us to get him on board,” Walsh said. “We have been speaking to him about how to make this plan work for Jason.”

Quigley gets married later this month with talks about what’s next on hold until May.

Quigley has taken an active role in management recently and is a key cog in the Elite Sheer wheel now.

He said: “I’m so proud to kick this off the way we did. It’s unbelievable and we really want to push on. Irish fans deserve big nights and big title fights. They deserve big Irish domestic fights as well.

“We’re here to do massive things and put Irish boxing back on the map again. We have some exciting boxers ready to make waves and we have a great stable of boxers ready to go.”
