Bronze for Joshua Magee at Luxembourg Open

Paul Reynolds and Joshua Magee who won bronze in Luxembourg.

Joshua Magee collected a bronze medal at the Yonex Luxembourg Open at the weekend.

Raphoe native Magee and his men’s doubles partner Paul Reynolds reached the semi-finals on a week when qualification points for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris opened.

At the National Sports and Culture Centre, Magee and Reynolds lost out to Lau Yi Sheng and Lee Yi Bo from Malaysia.

The Malaysian duo won 22-20 22-20.

Magee and Reynolds opened with a  21-17 21-16 win over Luxembourg pair Yannick Feltes and Jerome Pauquet.

Norwegian players Jacob Hougaard and Benjamin Ilum Klindt were accounted for 21-18 22-24 21-12 in the quarter-finals.

In the first and second game of the semi-final, Magee and Reynolds were at game point, but a final place eluded them.
