Rachael Darragh put up a brave displays against the world number 15 on Tuesday.

Darragh lost out to Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt in her second round match at the World Badminton Championships in Copenhagen.

The Raphoe woman lost out to the Dane 21-14 21-17.

Darragh defeated Egyptian Doha Hany 21-11 21-14 in her opening match at the Royal Arena on Monday.

In the men’s doubles, Darragh’s uncle Joshua Magee, who was playing alongside Paul Reynolds, lost out to New Zealand pair Kenneth Zhe Hooi Choo and Ming Chuen Lim.

Magee and Reynolds - who reached the quarter-finals at the European Games in Poland - took the first game 21-14, but were pipped having lost the next two 21-16 and 24-22 in a thrilling contest. Magee and Reynolds had match point, but Choo and Lim held sway.
