Ardara Paralympian Steven McGowan and teammate Katie O’Brien gave a fine account of themselves on Saturday morning with a fifth-placed finish in the World Rowing Championship final in Belgrade.

McGowan and O’Brien,  who clinched their qualification for Paris 2024 on Wednesday, were competing in the PR2 mixed double A event.

Steven was born in Donegal but now resides just outside Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon. In 2017, his life would change forever when he was involved in a car accident that left him with a severe spinal injury.

McGowan only picked up the sport two and a half years ago and has made incredible progress to be competing at the level he is now.
