Shane Toolan clocked a new 100m PB but agonisingly missed out on advancement at the European Masters Athletics Championships.
The Tir Chonaill AC man finished his M65 100m heat in 13.99 seconds in Pescara, Italy on Thursday.
Toolan, also known for his role as a referee in rugby and GAA - was millimetres from a place in the semi-final, pipped by just 0.04 of a second - the width of a best.
Toolan returns to action in the 200m on Saturday.
Finn Valley AC’s Garvin Boyce was in 1500m action on Friday. The Ramelton native finished his heat in 5:21, but did not advance.
Finn Valley AC’s Catriona Devine and Kay Byrne, Letterkenny AC’s Kathryn McDevitt and Milford man Brian Boyce, attached to the An Riocht club in Kerry, will all be in action in the coming days.
