Kay Byrne and Ireland W60 team win second gold at European Masters

Kay Byrne helped the Ireland W60 team to a second gold in the 10km road race at the European Masters Athletics Championships.

Byrne and Ireland took team honours in Pescara, Italy on Thursday having also won the team gold in the 8km cross country on Sunday.

Finn Valley AC’s Byrne finished eighth in 44 minutes and 26 seconds.

Niamh O’Sullivan finished third in 42:02 with Irene Clements clocking 42:45. The same three were the cross country gold medalists.

Austria’s Sabine Hofer won the road race gold in 40:56 with Elena Giovanna Fustella from Italy second in 41:10.
