Mark McGinley cycled 80km before helping Finn Valley AC to the team gold at Sunday’s Donegal Novice Cross Country Championships in Carndonagh.
McGinley pedalled from his Glenswilly home to the Carndonagh GAA grounds at Foden to run.
The 24-year-old took the individual silver medal after going through the 6km run in 20 minutes and 57 seconds.
He was just five seconds behind winner Shaun Kerrs of Tir Chonaill AC.
McGinley is a cyclist with Four Masters Cycling Club. He competed in this year’s National Road Series, finishing tenth.
Gavin McCullagh, Ryan Porter and Darren Toland also scored for Finn Valley in Sunday’s race after finishing third, eighth and ninth.
Next Sunday, McGinley will be part of the Finn Valley AC senior men’s team for the Donegal Senior Cross Country Championships which will be hosted by Rosses AC.
