Rachael Darragh reached the quarter-finals in a competitive women’s singles at the Yonex Dutch Open.
The Raphoe badminton player made it to the last eight.
At the Maaspoort Den Bosch, Darragh opened up with a 21-14 21-14 win over Clara Lassaux from Belgium.
Darragh saw off Eleni Christodoulou from Cyprus having lost the opening game. Darragh advanced 20-22 21-12 21-14.
However, the 26-year-old succumbed to India’s Imad Farooqui Samiya 21-12 8-21 21-9 in her last eight tie. The pulsating clash lasted for 63 minutes.
Samiya lost the final 21-11 21-7 to Denmark’s Julie Dawall Jakobsen.
Darragh will go again next week at the Abu Dhabi Masters World Tour event.
In September, she won a bronze medal at the the Lagos International Classic and reached the quarter-finals of the women’s singles in Lima at Peru Challenge 2023.
