Adams, Scanlon selected for Bobby Rea International Cross Country

Letterkenny AC duo Natasha Adams and Noeleen Scanlon will run as part of the Northern Ireland and Ulster team on Saturday with several other Donegal athletes set to toe the line for the NI & Ulster Even Age Group Championships

Letterkenny AC duo Natasha Adams and Noeleen Scanlon have been selected to run for Northern Ireland and Ulster in Saturday’s Bobby Rea International Cross Country.

Adams and Scanlon are part of the five-woman team that will run at the Billy Neill Centre of  Excellence, Dundonald.

The pair were part of the Letterkenny AC team that finished tenth ta the European Club Cross Country Championships (ECCC) in Oropesa del Mar in Spain in February.

On Sunday, Scanlon won the Masters Women’s race at the Autumn Open Cross Country in Abbotstown. There, she crossed the line in 21 minutes and 35 seconds.

Adams and Scanlon will be joined on Saturday by Hannah Gilliland of Annadale Striders, Catherine Whoriskey from City of Derry Spartans and East Down’s Catherine O’Connor.

Athletics NI’s Endurance Coordinator, Mark Kirk, said: "We are pleased to announce these talented and vastly experienced teams for the Bobby Rea International this year, in what will be an extremely competitive event.

“We are really looking forward to seeing everyone toe the line.”

The NI & Ulster Even Age Group Championships take place alongside the Bobby Rea International Cross Country.

Rosses AC’s Fionnuala Diver will be among the participants in the senior women’s race with Finn Valley AC pair Amy Grenee and Eimear McCarroll in the under-20 women’s race and Cranford AC’s Oisin Kelly in the under-20s race.

Several club teams from Donegal will go in the even ages championships.
