Amy Greene set a new personal best to win gold at the Irish Universities Championships at the Mary Peters Track in Belfast.

The Finn Valley AC athlete, competing for DCU, won the 3000m steeplechase.

Greene, in excellent form over the last year and having competed for Ireland U20s at the European Cross Country Championships in December, sped to gold in 10:52.66.

The Rosses native helped to lead DCU to a 17th women's team title.

Greene saw off UCC's Avril Cashman (11:10.23) and Aine Burke of DCU (11:47.24) to take the win.

Oisin Thompson scooped silver in the long jump. The Finn Valley AC athlete and ATU Donegal student jumped out to a best of 6.89m – also a new PB – with Luke O'Carroll's 7.08m sealing gold for the University of Limerick student.

Adrienne Gallen threw out to 54.18m for silver in the hammer throw. The Lifford-Strabane AC woman was also lining out for DCU and was beaten only by the 68.65m of Nicola Tuthill.

Lauren Callaghan took the long jump bronze, going out to 5.58m. Another of the DCU contingent, the Finn Valley AC woman was third on the podium behind Sophie Meredith (5.81m) and Laura Frawley (5.66m).

Cranford AC's Oisin Kelly, also of DCU, was fourth in the 800m final.

Finn Valley AC's Oisin Toye was sixth in the 1500m final and Ballybofey woman Hannah Murray, formerly of Finn Valley AC and now a scholarship student at UCD AC, was sixth in the 400m final.
