Mark English set a new season's best to finish fourth in Spain on Friday evening.
The Finn Valley AC man crossed the line in 1:46.29 for fourth over 800m in the Meeting Jaen Paraiso Interior held in Andujar.
The meet was a World Athletics Continental Tour bronze level event.
Dutrch runner Ryan Clarke won in a season's best of 1:45.74 while Kenya's Koitatoi Kidali was second in 1:45.78.
Brad Mathas of New Zealand finished in 1:45.93 to nudge ahead of English.
Letterkenny native English improved on the 1:46.47 he clocked at the Yangtze Delta Athletics Diamond Gala in the Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre in China.
English opened his outdoor season, also in China, when going 1:47.14.
