Here are Donegal's previous Olympians

There will be a sizeable Donegal interest in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and the county has a proud history of people from Donegal or people who were attached to its sports clubs competing at the Olympics

Paul Dolan (Athletics; 1948, 1952)

Having been part of the Irish 4x400m relay team that was disqualified at the 1948 Olympic Games in London, Dolan was back at Helsinki four years later, compting in the 100m, 200m and 400m.

The Ballyshannon native ran with Clonliffe Harriers and exited from the 100m in the first round, finishing in 11 seconds.

He was second in his opening 200m heat and third in his following in next 200m, clocking 21.9 seconds in each, before going third in a 400m heat, finishing in 48.5 seconds.
