Donegal athlete Sinead McConnell has achieved yet another impressive feat with the Finn Valley AC athlete securing another medal at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Gothenburg.

In her first attempt at the 20km race walk, Sinead delivered a determined and gritty performance, earning a well-deserved bronze medal at Slottsskogen City Park.

She crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 1:59.38, placing her among the top 20 on the all-time Irish list.

France’s Valerie Boban took the gold with a time of 1:56.53, while Hungary’s Katalin Bodorkos-Horvath claimed silver in 1:59.01.

Great Britain’s Melanie Peddle and France’s Laurence Sina were also in contention for bronze, but McConnell’s perseverance secured her spot on the podium.

This accomplishment completes a remarkable hat-trick of medals, following her silver successes in the 5k and 10k race walks.
