Katie-George Dunlevy and pilot Eve McCrystal during the Women's B 1000m Time Trial Final
There was no medal for Ireland's Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal who finished the 1000m Time Trial final in fifth position at the Paralympics in Paris on Friday afternoon.
The Irish paracyclists had a slow start before picking up the speed and hitting 0.271 seconds off the leaders at the halfway point, but they finished strongly with a time of 1:09.447.
Ireland were out second, with the USA's Hannah Chadwick out first and clocking in a fine time of 1:10.187.
After Ireland's performance, Lora Fachie of Great Britain set the target with a fine time of 1:09.181.
GB's Sophie Unwin was up next, and got off to a flier - and they only got better as the race went on as she hit 1.302 seconds clear at the top guaranteeing a medal.
Ireland by that point needed the last two tandems to be slower to hang onto bronze. But it was not to be as Australia's Jessica Gallagher hit first spot, putting Dunleavy out of the medal positions.
Earlier in the day the pair clocked a time of 1:09.094 in the heats, placing them fifth overall and qualifying them for the final.
