Cara Laverty helped Providence College to second place at the Big East Cross Country Championships.
The Finn Valley AC athlete placed 20th as Providence finished just a point behind Georgetown.
At Marven Park in Leesburg, Virginia, Laverty placed 20th over the women’s 6k distance.
The Friars were led by Alex Millard in second while Kimberley May, Shannon Flockhart and Laura Mooney all finished in the top ten with Niamh O’Mahony 18th and Laverty 20th.
Another Finn Valley AC runner, Liam McCay, was 39th over 8k as the Providence College men finished in fourth.
Friars Head Coach Ray Treacy said: “It was heartbreaking for the women to lose by a point, but they ran fantastic. We’re getting closer and closer as the season goes on.
“The guys ran to their potential and they will get better.”

The are back in action at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Hopkinton, New Hampshire in a couple of weeks’ time.
At the Missouri Valley Conference, their club colleague Eimear McCarroll, running for Bradley University, did not finish having withdrawn through an injury.
