Dunfanaghy Boxing Club boxers with coaches Joe Harkin and Eddie Harkin
Dunfanaghy Boxing Club toasted a hat-trick of titles as the Donegal Novice Championships came to a conclusion in Letterkenny on Tuesday night.
Tiernan McGinley, Odhran McCarry and Cathal Russell all recorded wins at Letterkenny Boxing Club as the remaining finals took place.
McCarry blasted his way to the Boy 4 52kgs title. McCarry stopped Derryveagh’s Eoghan O’Donnell in the third round of their bout.
McGinley overcame Dungloe’s Tiernan McGill on a unanimous decision in the Boy 1 40kgs final while Russell earned a clean sweep of the cards against Daithi Cannon from Carrigart BC in the Boy 5 60kgs final.
Letterkenny BC’s Pearse McBride won the Boy 1 52kgs final in double quick time, stopping Derryveagh’s Johnny Cannon in the opening round.
It was a similar story for Carndonagh’s Yevhraf Serdiuchenko, who stopped Twin Towns’ Matthew Taylor in the first round of the Boy 5 57kgs final while Illies Golden Gloves puncher Andrew McLaughlin won the Boy 3 62kgs crown when stopping Fele O’Donnell of Letterkenny in round three.
Dunree’s Shea Kohlmeyer edged a 2-1 split against Harry Tinney of Convoy to tale the Boy 6 60kgs title.
On Sunday at Carndonagh Boxing Club, where the first of the finals were held, three boxers from St Bridget’s in Clonmany won titles in the ring.

Conor Glackin scored a unanimous decision over Adam Walsh from Twin Towns in the Boy 0 38.5kgs final.
In the Boy 5 75kgs final, Clonmany middleweight Kyrin Doherty defeated Lexi Krytskyi of Illies Golden Gloves, also on a unanimous decision, while Keelan Kearney was a unanimous decision winner against Kostiantyn Koryliatskyi from Twin Towns in the Boy 0 46kgs final.
Carrigart’s Faolan Caldwell had the edge on Dunree’s Thomas Doyle in the Boy 0 37kgs final.
Isla McShane earned a slender 2-1 split decision to overcome Lena O’Donnell form Dungloe in the Girl 1 41kgs final, but there was better joy for her club-mate Calvin McHugh.
In the Boy 1 41.5kgs final, Dungloe’s McHugh defeated Letterkenny BC’s Blake Lynch on a unanimous decision.
Kyle McCauley of Letterkenny BC took all the cards in a victory over St John Bosco’s Nathan McGee in the Boy 4 75kgs final and Eddie Doherty from Illies Golden Gloves was given a split decision against Carndonagh’s Justin McGuinness in the Boy 4 57kgs final.
Nine remaining finals will be boxed on Tuesday evening at Letterkenny Boxing Club.
