Gerard McGlynn was the winner of the main event

This past Saturday night, over 70 competitors gathered at Lennon Lodge for the highly anticipated Annual Darts Competition. 

The energy in the room was electric as players battled for glory in both the Main Competition and the Shield Competition. 

With intense matchups, fierce rivalries, and high-quality darts on display, it was truly a night to remember!

Main Competition Recap

Last 16

The competition kicked off with some fantastic matchups as players fought to secure their place in the quarterfinals:

Charlie Grant, a seasoned veteran, took on Cartha Boyle and used his experience to claim victory and progress to the next round.

Phil McGeehan displayed impressive accuracy to defeat Gerald Porter.

John Murphy took on in-form youth player Jack Porter. Despite Porter’s recent run of good form, Murphy held his nerve and came out on top.

Ciaran McGeady dominated his match against Dean Gallagher, securing a comfortable win.

Alan Byrne battled past Declan Quinn to earn his spot in the quarterfinals.

Gerard McGlynn proved too strong for Gerald Nestor, advancing with a composed performance.

John Murray and Clive Aiken squared off in an exciting Ramelton showdown. In a closely contested battle, Aiken edged out Murray to move forward.

Alan Hegarty rounded off the last 16 with a victory over Jason Orr.

Quarter-finals

With only eight players remaining, the competition intensified:

Phil McGeehan continued his strong form, defeating the experienced Charlie Grant in a well-fought contest.

Ciaran McGeady outplayed John Murphy, moving one step closer to the final.

Gerard McGlynn showcased his consistency and skill, taking down Alan Byrne.

Alan Hegarty displayed great finishing ability to overcome Clive Aiken and book his place in the semifinals.

Semi-finals

Only four players remained, each determined to claim the title:

Ciaran McGeady and Phil McGeehan faced off in a thrilling battle. Both men played with great intensity, but McGeady edged out McGeehan to advance to the final.

Gerard McGlynn squared off against Alan Hegarty in another high-quality match. McGlynn held his nerve and secured his place in the championship showdown.

Final

The grand final saw Gerard McGlynn and Ciaran McGeady go head-to-head in a tense, high-stakes battle. Both players had been outstanding throughout the tournament, and they did not disappoint in the final.

The match was closely contested, with both competitors delivering some spectacular finishes. However, in the end, Gerard McGlynn edged out Ciaran McGeady to become the Lennon Lodge Darts Champion!

A fantastic performance from McGlynn, who showed composure and class throughout the tournament!

Shield Competition

For those who didn’t advance in the main competition, the Shield Competition provided another chance to showcase their talent. It proved to be just as exciting, with some outstanding performances and closely fought battles.

Last 16

The Shield Competition kicked off with some intense first-round clashes: Gavin Gallagher displayed great composure to defeat Hugo Boyle.

Anthony Whorkiskey edged out Matthew Kerr in a tight contest. Stephen Coyle played a confident match, defeating Aaron Doherty.

Ollie McGeady showed great form, taking down Mark Meehan.Chris Dunnion overcame Danny Doogan in a well-contested game.

Ryan Flood put in a strong performance to beat Kevin McFeely. Shaun Gallagher impressed with a win over Bungie. Jamie Finley outplayed Eoghan McGill to secure his spot in the quarterfinals.

Quarter-finals

As the competition progressed, the level of play remained high: Gavin Gallagher continued his winning streak, defeating Anthony Whorkiskey.

Stephen Coyle overcame Ollie McGeady in a strong showing. Chris Dunnion displayed great accuracy to get past Ryan Flood. Shaun Gallagher secured a well-earned victory against Jamie Finley.

Semi-finals

With just four players left, each match was a battle:

Gavin Gallagher faced off against Stephen Coyle and put in a fantastic performance to secure his place in the final.

Shaun Gallagher squared off against Chris Dunnion in an evenly matched contest. Shaun held his nerve and earned his spot in the final showdown.

Final 

The Shield Competition Final came down to an exciting clash between Gavin Gallagher and Shaun Gallagher. Both players had been in excellent form throughout the night, and the final proved to be an entertaining contest.

The match was closely contested, with both men trading strong finishes and keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats. In the end, Shaun Gallagher delivered a standout performance, holding his nerve to defeat Gavin and claim the Shield Competition title!
