Mark English and Arlene Crossan have been chosen for the European Athletics Indoor Championships
Arlene Crossan will join Mark English at the forthcoming European Athletics Indoor Championships.
The Finn Valley AC pair have been confirmed as part of the Irish team.
The European Indoors take place at the Omnisport arena in Apeldoorn, Netherlands from March 6-9.
English, already a four-time European medallist, will go in the 800m with Crossan chosen as part of the women’s 4x400m relay squad.
English side-stepped the National Indoors at the weekend, but the Letterkenny native has been in excellent form since the turn of the year.
At the Millrose Games in New York, English, now working with coach Justin Rinaldi, set a new Irish indoor 800m record of 1:45.15.
English won a European Indoor bronze medal in 2019 in Glasgow and was the silver medalist four years earlier in Prague. He has also won outdoor bronze medals in 2014 and 2022.
Crossan’s name appears in an Irish senior selection for the first time.
At the weekend, Crossan, who is coached by Shauna Carlin, set a new Donegal 400m record.
When going 54.98 seconds, Crossan booked a place in the final with a blistering semi-final to lower her own previous best.
