Citadel Gymnastics has once again placed Donegal firmly on the map with an outstanding performance at the Gymnastics Ireland National Series and JumpSTART event.

The club’s gymnasts showcased their exceptional talent and dedication, securing an impressive 19 accolades across multiple disciplines, reinforcing Citadel’s status as a powerhouse in Irish gymnastics.

The prestigious event attracted over 2,000 competitors from clubs across Ireland, with gymnasts performing in front of a crowd of 5,000 spectators. Citadel Gymnastics sent a strong contingent of 30 athletes to compete on the national stage, demonstrating their skill and determination in both artistic and tumbling disciplines.

Citadel’s competitive gymnasts excelled against tough opposition in the National Series. Eimear Curran and Mary Beatty delivered standout performances in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) programme, exhibiting grace, strength, and precision to earn well-deserved recognition and medals.

The club’s tumbling programme also impressed, with six gymnasts clinching medals at the National Series. Callum McMenamin, Kaitlyn Viray, Seán Power, Kailee Flinter, Mandy Sweeney, and PJ McLaughlin executed powerful and controlled routines to secure podium finishes, highlighting the depth of talent within the club. Citadel’s success extended to the JumpSTART tumbling event, where 11 gymnasts achieved top placements.

Rose Doherty, Freya Toner, Connie Callaghan, Adrian McLaughlin, Harry Sleigh, Aoibhe McKelvey, Aoibh Ní Fhearraigh, Maya Becht, Kaelum Sleigh, Saoirse Ní Fhearraigh, and Amelia Becht showcased their remarkable progress and talent, securing 1st to 4th place finishes. Their achievements reflect the strength of Citadel’s development pathway and the dedication of both athletes and coaches.

These remarkable results underscore Citadel Gymnastics’ ongoing commitment to nurturing talent at all levels. The club’s strong presence at national competitions continues to elevate Donegal’s standing in Irish gymnastics, inspiring the next generation of athletes and setting the stage for future success.

Looking ahead, Citadel Gymnastics is preparing for upcoming national competitions in May, as well as international events scheduled for the summer and November. With opportunities to compete on even bigger stages, the club remains dedicated to pushing boundaries and fostering excellence.
