The Donegal Town girls with their medals
Donegal Town’s U16 girls basketball side produced a superb display to claim the North West Cup and secure a spot in the upcoming All-Ireland Finals.
They began their campaign in impressive fashion with a semi-final victory over Killybegs. Despite what the final score might suggest, this was a hard-fought contest, with the Donegal Town girls showing real grit and cohesion to come through and seal their place in the decider.

In the final, they faced a talented and disciplined Letterkenny Blaze outfit. What followed was an absorbing and closely contested encounter, with both sides battling throughout. Donegal Town, however, found another level when it mattered most, demonstrating great composure, ability and determination to come out on top and lift the title.
Credit is also due off the court, with appreciation extended to Ann Boyle and the Abbey Hotel for their ongoing backing, ensuring the team was well prepared for the day’s challenges. The players’ energy and determination were evident from start to finish and proved key to their success.
The achievement reflects the dedication of the squad as well as the efforts of coaches and supporters working behind the scenes.
Attention now turns to Gormanston, where Donegal Town will represent their club on the national stage at the All-Ireland Finals.
