Bryan McNamee won his sixth Irish title on Saturday.

LyIT students McNamee, Matthew McCole and Brenda Collins all won title at the Irish Third Level Championships.

McNamee had WBO world middleweight challenger Jason Quigley in his corner to see off Jack McHugh from Monica.

McNamee is punching now for Raphoe ABC, Saturday’s final his first fight under Gary McCullagh’s tutelage.

The Convoy man proved too strong for Garda College’s McHugh. McNamee took the unanimous verdict from the judges at ringside to land the senior 75kgs crown.

Saturday’s success sealed a third colleges title for McNamee.

McCole was too strong for Damien Creavin in the senior 67kgs final. The Illies Golden Gloves man also took a unanimous decision.

In 2020, McCole was the 69kgs champion and in 2018 he took a colleges 64kgs crown while boxing for his native Dungloe ABC.

Following wins over Ryan Cullen and Aodhan Byrne, McCole went into the final in good stead - and he made no mistake with a clinical final performance.

Dunree ABC’s Collins won the youth 60kgs title via a walkover.

There was no joy, however, for LyIT’s Shauna Blaney, who was beaten by Isabella Hughes in the senior 60kgs final.
