Nakita Burke places fourth in VHI Women’s Mini Marathon

Nakita Burke finished fourth in Sunday’s VHI Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin.

The Letterkenny AC woman came home in 33 minutes and 49 seconds. 

The time represented a 10k personal best for Burke - the first time she dipped under 34 minutes. Burke shaved 13 seconds off her previous fastest time over the distance. 

The race was won by Aoife Kilgallon from Sligo AC in a time of 33:07.

Sorcha Nic Dhomhnaill from Donore Harriers was second across the finish line in 33:07 and her sister Ide Nic Dhomhnaill placed third in 33:26.

Over 20,000 women took part in the event, which celebrated its 40th year.

Noeleen Scanlan of Letterkenny AC was 10th in 34:26.
