Eamonn Kelly was third at the Circuit of Munster Rally.

Frosses man Eamonn Kelly was third at the Lyons of Limerick Circuit of Munster Rally, round five of the Triton Showers-backed Motorsport Ireland National Rally Championship on Sunday.

Kelly, with Monaghan’s Conor Mohan calling the notes in the VW Polo GTi R5, were 37.6 seconds behind Robert Barrable.

The rally was won by Josh Moffett, who made it five wins from five in the Hyundai i20 R5.

After the first loop of stages, Kelly, who went out on full wets, noted that he had a few moments with most of his opponents on cut slicks.

Kelly set the fastest time on stage 6 with Tim McNulty and Jordan Hone forced out on stage 5.

Kelly lost a lot of time and finished the final stage without wipers allowing Barrable - who had Kilmacrenann’s Paddy Robinson as co-driver - to take second spot.

Convoy navigator Dean O’Sullivan finished fourth with Michael Carbin and John McCaffrey was co-driver for the fifth-placed Seamus Leonard while Raymond Scott navigated for Ed O’Callaghan, who was seventh.

Donegal pair Conor Harvey and Gerard Callaghan were 17th overall while Daniel Breslin and Patrick Boyle finished 20th.

Burt’s PJ McDermott won class 8 co-driven by Ray Fitzpatrick in a WRC Fiesta.

Mountcharles’ Joseph Kelly, with Ronan Comerford on the notes, was the winner in class 2. Kelly was behind the wheel of a Peugeot 208.

Glenswilly man Teighearnàn Kelly - a brother of the late Manus Kelly - returned with a class win alongside Conal Doherty. Kelly and Doherty, in a Honda Civic, took the spoils in class 1.
