Kathryn McDevitt lands second gold at World Masters

Kathryn McDevitt secured a second gold medal at the World Masters Championships in Finland on Sunday morning.

Having been part of the victorious W40 4x100m relay team on Saturday, Letterkenny AC’s McDevitt helped the 4x400m relay team to gold on Sunday.

At the Ratina Stadium in Tampere, McDevitt ran the second leg of the race with Ireland finishing in 3:58.82.

"I ran the race of my life," said McDevitt. "It was a real battle."

 Snezana Bechtina and Sinead O’Regan, who were also on the 4x100m team, joined with McDevitt and Annette Quaid to secure gold ahead of the United States of America.

Emmanuelle McGowan, Ahndraea Allen, Lisa Edwards and Adjua Gibb-Gabriel finished in 4:00.56.

Finlan’s Missu Eskola, Katja Blunden, Jenni Lautiala and Sanna Erkinheimo took bronze in 4:08.45.
