Two Donegal golfers have been named on the Ulster team for the upcoming Men’s and Women’s Interprovincial Matches.

Convoy native Ryan Griffin from Ballybofey & Stranorlar Golf Club and Cian Harkin of Letterkenny Golf Club are part of the eight-strong Ulster team who will be captained by Rory Leonard from Banbridge, Co Down, managed by Peter Waddell of Knock, Co Antrim.

Griffin, who is a Maynooth University Marketing and Psychology student, earned selection for the World Universities Championships last month and is currently ranked 78th in the European Golf Rankings.

In April he was seventh at the West of Ireland Championships and County Sligo Golf Club (Rosses Point), sixth at the Irish Men's Amateur Open Championship at The Island Golf Club, Donabate, Co Dublin a month later and then 10th in June at the East of Ireland at County Louth Golf Club in June.

Harkin, who is a student at DCU, where he studies PE and biology, is a keen footballer with Bonagee United and is currently ranked 327 and was 18th at the Mullingar Scratch Trophy last month and 18th at the Irish Men's Amateur.

The three-day Interprovincial Matches take place in Moyvalley Hotel & Golf Resort, Co Kildare, from August 23 to 25.
