Raphoe's Tiernan Conwell begins National Youth bid

Raphoe Boxing Club’s Tiernan Conwell will take to the ring on Friday night at the 2022 National Youth Championships.

Conwell will face Cole Byrne from Rathnew in a 67kgs quarter-final.

Conwell was due to box in a preliminary round bout at the weekend, but his scheduled opponent withdrew, giving the Raphoe puncher a bye.

On Saturday, Letterkenny boxer Jack Harkin faces into a semi-final.

The Oakleaf Boxing Club representative booked a place in the 51kgs semi-finals when beating Olympic BC’s Carson Hanlon on Friday.

Harkin - who last month won gold at the William Wallace Box Cup in Scotland - took the unanimous decision to advance to the last four.
