Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal won their sixth World Championship medals.
Katie-George Dunlevy won a sixth World Championship with tandem partner Eve McCrystal on Sunday.
Dunlevy, whose father John hails from Mountcharles, and McCrystal sped to victory in the tandem road race at the Para-cycling Road World Championships in Canada.
Dunlevy and McCrystal, the double Paralympic gold medalists, held the lead having attacked on the climb with one-and-a-half laps to go.
The golden success followed their silver medal win in the time trial on Friday. The pair completed the 28.4km distance in a time of 40:46.74, 49.53 seconds down on gold medal winners Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl from Great Britain.
“I am absolutely over the moon,” Dunleavy said.
"It's our sixth World Championship medal and it's as special as the first. We lost the titles last year so it's great to that back to bring to Ireland.”
Another Irish pair, Josephine Healion and Linda Kelly, took bronze in the tandem road race.
