The Allingham Arms Hotel in Bundoran granted permission by Donegal County Council to facilitate new fitness suite and children’s play area

Donegal County Council has granted planning permission to Bundoran’s Allingham Arms Hotel for an extension to facilitate a fitness suite and children’s play area.

The listed applicant, McEniffs (Bundoran) Limited, successfully submitted an application for the construction of a new two-storey extension to the rear of the existing hotel building.

Granted proposals are for the ground floor to consist of ancillary spa facilities, a fitness suite, reception, toilets and storage; and the first floor to consist of an ancillary children's play area, supervision area, toilets and storage.

Plans include all associated site works, including connection to existing services and ancillary infrastructural developments necessary to complete the project.

Donegal County Council granted permission for the application, with six conditions, including a condition imposed that the applicant should contribute a payment of €3,402 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided or is intended to be provided by the Authority.

The four-star Allingham Arms Hotel is a major feature of Bundoran’s tourism economy, having operated as a hotel since May 1991, becoming known as “The Capital of Country Music.”

There is a capacity of 132 bedrooms at the hotel, which can host conferences or events for up to 400 people.
