The property, extending to 70.98 sqm, has an Advised Minimum Value (AMV) of €30,000
A building that once played a central role in the community of Carrick will soon be offered a new lease of life, as it goes under the hammer in a nationwide auction of former HSE properties.
The bungalow on Teelin Road, which most locals will remember as the village health centre, is due to be sold at O’Donnellan & Joyce’s national Live Stream Auction on Friday, September 19.
The property, extending to 70.98 sqm, has an Advised Minimum Value (AMV) of €30,000. While it requires renovation, it has potential to be converted into a permanent residence or a holiday home, subject to planning. Its location in the heart of Carrick, just 10km from Killybegs and 20km from Donegal Town, makes it an attractive option.
Carrick is not the only community seeing the former HSE buildings change hands. On September 19, O’Donnellan & Joyce will be selling nine HSE properties in total among them are Sliabhan House, Ballintogher, Co. Sligo, a six-bedroom residence overlooking Lough Gill with tennis courts and outbuildings on a 2.4-acre site; The Manse, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim, a traditional two-storey home on a large elevated site in the centre of the town; and Aughrim Health Centre in Co. Galway. Other notable listings include Loughrea Health Centre, Co. Galway, Barran, Blacklion, Co. Cavan, Bank House, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim, Hill House, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, and Sliabh Ban, Ballintogher, Co. Sligo.
Auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan commented: “These properties represent unique opportunities across Ireland. From Carrick in Donegal to Sligo, Galway, Mayo, and beyond, former HSE buildings offer both history and huge potential for future development. The Carrick property, in particular, stands out for its setting and affordability.”
For many, these sales reflect a broader shift as older HSE buildings, once the hub of rural healthcare, are repurposed and given new roles in their communities.
The Donegal property will be offered as part of a live-streamed national auction where bidding can take place by phone or online, but advance registration is required. Further information is available at www.odj.ie or by contacting O’Donnellan & Joyce Auctioneers on 091564212.
