St Johnston man Harry Pearson was one of the Super Cup NI heroes this week.
The Coleraine goalkeeper helped gun down Manchester United before County Derry defeated Tigres UANL from Mexico in the Boys Premier final.
Pearson and his side topped their group to qualify for the semi-finals. A 2-1 win over Rangers followed a 2-0 victory over Armagh and their place in the last four was secured before they lost 2-1 to St Kevin’s in their final group game.
In a lively semi-final at the Coleraine Showgrounds, Pearson was the star of the show as they overcame Manchester United on penalties.
Alfie Friars - son of former Letterkenny Rovers defender Emmet - scored a dramatic injury time equaliser after Shea Lacey’s penalty put United in front.
Extra time couldn’t throw up a winner and Pearson saved from James Bailey in a nervy shoot-out to see off the Red Devils.
Super Cup NI, formerly known as the Milk Cup, is one of the world’s most renowned youth football tournaments.
On Friday night, County Derry secured their place in history as Jacob Dallas struck the only goal of the game to beat Tigres UANL.
