A father and son helped Lifford Celtic to their first league win in the Donegal Junior League in over two seasons.

Paul McNulty and his son Shane both started for the border side in their 3-0 win over Whitestrand United at McGarvey Park in Division Two.

Shaun Friel, Justin McBride and Niall O’Reilly scored the goals for the Greenbrae men.

The victory saw Lifford, managed by Daniel McNulty, start the 2023/24 season on a winning note.

Last season, Lifford were winless and drew three games after returning to action having withdrawn from the Donegal League just before the start of the 2021/22 season.

Lifford welcome Deele Harps to the Greenbrae this Sunday for a big derby joust.
