Ollie Horgan and Paul Hegarty forged something of a formidable partnership at Finn Harps, but will be on opposing sides tonight.

Horgan and Hegarty are now assistant managers at Galway United and Derry City.

Tonight at the Brandywell, Derry City host Galway United in the League of Ireland Premier Division. Just four points separate second-placed Derry from Galway, who are in fifth spot.

Horgan stepped down as the Harps manager in November 2022 following relegation from the top flight.

In a nine-year spell, Horgan managed Harps 317 times. He guided Harps to promotion in 2015 and 2018 while Horgan's Harps also won a play-off to keep their Premier Division status in 2019.

Hegarty, a former Harps player and manager, joined up with Horgan in June 2016. The Ballindrait man stayed until the end of the 2021 season.

Last month, Hegarty was recruited by Derry boss Ruaidhri Higgins as his number 2.

Horgan is in his second season as assistant to Galway manager John Caulfield with the Tribesmen winning the First Division in 2023.
