Killybegs native Seamus Coleman in action for the Republic of Ireland
Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrímsson has named his squad for Ireland’s upcoming Nations League clashes with Finland and England, marking the much-anticipated return of Killybegs native and team captain, Seamus Coleman.
With 73 caps to his name, Coleman brings a wealth of experience that will be invaluable to Hallgrímsson who will be looking for two positive results during this international window.
The seasoned defender missed out on October’s matches due to an injury sustained in September’s fixture against England, but his presence now is expected to boost team morale and aid in the integration of younger players.
At 36, Coleman hasn’t featured for his club since that injury, and it remains uncertain whether he’ll be in the starting lineup. However, his return alone is seen as a significant boost as Ireland aim to secure strong results.
Ireland will first host Finland at the Aviva Stadium on Thursday, November 14, with a 7.45pm kickoff. They will then head to Wembley to face England on Sunday, November 17, with a 5pm kickoff.
