Matthew Makinson during his time at Finn Harps
Defender Matthew Makinson has left Finn Harps, the club has announced.
The 26-year-old Englishman joined Harps in July 2023.
In the latter half of 2023, Makinson made 17 appearances in all competitions. In 2024, Makinson played 35 times, including once in the FAI Cup.
In a statement, Harps said: “The club would like to thank the defender for his efforts and dedication during his time at Finn Park and wish him every success going forward.”
Makinson began his career at Blackburn Rovers before spells with Warrington Rylands, FC United of Manchester, Stalybridge and Widnes.

In a post on X, Makinson said: "I’ve loved the last 18 months at the club and living in Donegal.
"Massive thanks to the coaching staff, the hard working staff behind the scene, players and the fans for all their support. All the best for the season ahead."
