New 'singing section' at Finn Park as Finn Harps fans seek atmosphere boost

Finn Harps supporters want to bring noise and colour to Finn Park this season

A group of Finn Harps fans are planning to bring some big night atmosphere back to Finn Park.

Ahead of Harps’ first home game of the 2025 season, fans have been busy arranging a new singing section at Finn Park.

Harps host the recently-relegated Dundalk on Friday night and fans want to bring both noise and colour to the Ballybofey venue.

A group of fans met with Finn Harps supporters liaison officer (SLO) Aidan McNelis this week while the club’s commercial and marketing officer Aidan Campbell has also been working closely with the group.

A portion of the stand at Finn Park has been marked off now as a special singing section and everyone interested in helping to make the old venue a cauldon for visiting teams is asked to join in.

“It’s something I’ve been thinking about for 25 years,” McNelis, a Galway-based Buncrana native says.

“It’s all about the number of voices. There have been some massive nights for noise at Finn Park and the acoustics from the shed really help.

“Historically on big nights it can get diluted where some people are just in for the night and other people get spread out, so this will keep everyone together.”

Supporters are also planning to add to their collection of flags.

“There will be plenty of noise and colour,” Shea Doherty, one of those behind the initiative, says.

McNelis has, however, reminded supporters that pryo is banned from grounds and clubs face huge fines from the FAI if such items are let off inside grounds.
